On March 2, 2017, we received notification that the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-Spitzenverband) had approved our application to include our long canes for children in the medical aids directory. This means that our children’s canes, like the long canes for adults, can now be submitted to health insurance companies for reimbursement upon presentation of a prescription. As this was not previously the case and parents of young blind children had to pay for their long canes themselves, with a few exceptions, we are very pleased about this success and would like to once again express our sincere thanks to the association “Anderes Sehen e.V.” and all the educators involved in the early education of blind children who supported us in submitting the application.
